The Dallas Downriver Club Hall of Honor seeks to recognize and pay tribute to club members past and present who have made significant contributions to DDRC and the paddling community, as a whole, over many years. These paddlers have been good stewards of the environment, provided their time, efforts and resources for the benefits of others and have been goodwill ambassadors of outstanding character and esteem during their lifetimes of paddling. We are proud to have known and shared rivers with each of them. |
February 2, 1936 - December 12, 2002 Wayne was larger-than-life in so many ways. His caring philanthropy far exceeded his owns means to do good for others, but none was more evident than the many visits he made, at great personal expense, to deliver much-needed supplies and gifts to the citizens of Boquillas del Carmen across the Rio Grande from Big Bend National Park. Bone marrow cancer cut short Wayne's life, but it can never cut short the fond memory of the man often referred to as "Santa Claus". Wayne was a longtime DDRC member and avid river runner whose life made a difference for so many people. |
![]() Bonnie is a lifetime member of DDRC, and has led many river trips from the quiet waters of the Illinois in northeastern Oklahoma to the Rio Grande on the Texas-Mexico border. Her love of paddling has been shared with many people over several decades, and Bonnie has been responsible for introducing many to new people to the joys of canoeing, as well as bringing them into DDRC. Whether paddling solo or tandem, Bonnie still manages to camp and canoe more times in a year than most paddlers will ever do. She shows us all that our sport can be enjoyed for a lifetime by those who love spending time adoring the wonders of nature from a canoe, kayak or raft. |

![]() August 25, 1919 - March 13, 2007 Hans was a lifetime member of DDRC, and spent most of his life paddling rivers all over the nation, often introducing friends, co-workers and others to the joys of paddling. He led his first canoe trip at the ripe old age of 12, and spent time paddling the Brazos with John Graves, author of "Goodbye to a River". Hans was an avid aviator in airplanes and helicopters, retiring from Bell Helicopter, where he was an aeronautical engineer and test pilot, as well as Senior Vice President. His life was spent as an advocate of canoeing and an ambassador of the sport. A native of Missouri, Hans spent many years paddling gorgeous rivers from Texas to Georgia, camping in the great outdoors and promoting paddlesports to all who would listen. He was a friend to many and a delight to know. Hans will long be remembers for his significant contributions to paddlesports and aviation. |
