Duck Day on the TrinityDuck Day 2008 is Saturday, October 18th. Come to Trinity Park in Fort Worth between 11 am and 5 pm for a fabulous event to support Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains. Parking is free, admission is free, Kids' Zone events are free, too. There's also entertainment, food and prizes. Then, at 4 PM, 20,000 (really) little rubber ducks cascade from the Lancaster Street bridge into the Trinity River. Downstream the first lucky ducks across the finish line win BIG prizes for their adoptive parents.
This annual family festival and rubber ducky race has been a favorite of Cutter Aquatics kayakers for 4 years. Sometimes the ducks need a friendly push from our paddlers, but with the cheering crowd of on-lookers it is all great fun. At the end of the race we scoop all those duckies out of the water until next year. If you want to help herd and scoop the ducks please contact us. If you have your own boat bring it along. If you want to paddle one of ours let us know. Paddlers are needed from 3 - 6 PM. More info is on our website. Please go on-line to adopt ducks. Winners need not be present at the event. |

River Cleanup in Grand Prairie This event is also on October 18th, but in the morning!
In cooperation with the City of Grand Prairie we will begin work on a nasty section of water way. The trash is severe and REALLY needs our help. It's FREE, of course! A free lunch, t-shirts and prizes are provided, too. At 9 AM, meet at the north end of the Mountain Creek Soccer Complex. 3730 South Beltline Road, Grand Prairie. Bags and gloves and nets will be distributed, safety instructions announced and zones assigned. Then we will caravan to the cleanup site. We will finish at 12:30 PM then go back to the soccer complex for lunch and prizes. This is a great family project to keep our community clean. Shore based participation is available, too. Bring your boat, paddle and lifejacket. Bring trash scooping nets if you have them. The City of Grand Prairie has some boats available if you have paddling experience. To request a boat contact Tammy Chan or call (972)237-8152. ![]() |
