August 2008 Moonlight Float Trip

John Paul Jones Park on Lake Ray Hubbard in Garland is the launch site for the August Moonlight Float trip. We will gather at the park, on the east side of the lake just off of I30 at the Bass Pro Drive exit at 6:30 PM. There is a boat ramp and a large picnic area complete with restrooms. We will set up in the picnic area and have our Pot Luck supper while we wait for the sun to go down and the moon to rise. We will put in at at the boat ramp ramp after dark, then take a cool moonlit paddle on the lake.

Bring dinner and beverages for yourself, a camp chair and a headlamp - we WILL be paddling after dark. Technically, we are required by law to have a white light, visible from 360 degrees, on each boat after dark.

DIRECTIONS- Travelling east on I 30 from Dallas, get off at the Bass Pro Drive exit, go under the over pass and turn right onto Bass Pro. Keep right and make a hard right turn onto Chaha Road at the light. This will take you over I30. Follow Chaha until it ends and turn right on Zion. Follow Zion around and into the park.
