Trip Description:

Please join the Dallas Down River Club for an "Urban Paddle" event on Saturday, December 26, 2020. We will meet at the new Trinity Fork Park Canoe Launch on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Lewisville, and then paddle up river (the current will be minimal) and we will stop along the shore and have a picnic lunch around noon. Please bring a picnic lunch, folding chairs or picnic blanket, sunscreen, drinking water, and a life jacket.

This should be an easy trip, and it is ideal for families with children or paddlers wanting to have a leisurely paddle on a Saturday morning. This trip open to the general public - not just DDRC members.

Directions: Go north or south on IH 35E to the Hebron Parkway exit, and then go EAST on Hebron Parkway about one half mile.  The entrance to Trinity Fork Park will be on the right side before you cross the river.

While we have never had any problems it is advisable not to leave valuables in sight inside your vehicles. Store valuables in the trunk or out of sight, and lock your doors.

Gear Requirements:

Bring boats that are suitable for flatwater, PFD's (lifejackets), paddles (a spare is recommended), a whistle or other signalling device, throwbag, clothing for warm, dry conditions, camp chair, plate(s), flatware, drinking cup and some food item to share for the potluck lunch. A small cooler for drinks may be carried in your boat, if desired

Meals:

Bring something for the potluck lunch. Bring plenty of beverages, but remember - NO GLASS OR FOAM POLYSTYRENE STYROFOAM CONTAINERS!

Back-up Plan:

This is an Urban Paddle and no alternative plans in case of flooding or inclement weather.
