Many DDRC members and friends contributed hundreds of hours of time and effort to make our 2006 race a success, and it showed. The result, once again, demonstrated what can be accomplished by a group of people working together for a cause in which they all believe. Most people were involved in multiple aspects of the event. This race would never happen without the selfless, personal efforts of so many who were involved in planning the race, participating in the two river cleanups we do the two weekends prior to the race, and the momumental efforts involved in staging, registration, timing, safety, food preparation, raffle, awards and photo documentation of our event. This page is a photographic recognition of those efforts, and our way of saying "THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS"! Without you, this race could never happen.

A very big thank you goes out to Dave Harmon and all who assisted him in preparing a barbeque meal that rivals any you will ever get in a restaurant. The truth be told, the only reason we have this race, and the only reason paddlers come from across Texas and from many other states to participate, is because everybody knows that we will dine in fine fashion at the end of the race!

We also want to thank Jimmy and Edie Gray of Paddler Bound River Outfitters, DDRC member Richard Steppe of North Texas Canoes and DDRC member Ken Lock for loaning us boats and trailers for use by Keep Carrollton Beautiful volunteers during our cleanup. Without these generous donations it would not be possible to put this many people on the river and bring back the amount of trash we removed.

A volunteer river cleanup would not happen without volunteers. Many members of DDRC have been contributing their time and effort for the past eleven years to our two cleanups prior to the race. For the past two years we have been ably assisted by the valiant efforts of Keep Carrollton Beautiful and its two driving forces, Peggy Healey and Sharon Goddard. Each of the last two years they have mustered about 100 volunteers, some of whom canoe the river and others who walk the banks picking up trash left by others. The assistance of KCB has been monumental in our ability to make the Trinity River and surrounding land areas a cleaner and nicer place to paddle, fish, play golf or enjoy other activities along the riverbanks.

There are probably others who volunteered for one or more tasks required to make the race a smashing success, and whose names are not included here. To those individuals we say "Thank you", and please accept our humble apologies for the omission of your names from this list.
