This year's Thanksgiving trip will be to the East Texas to visit Atlanta State Park. The Park offers a a large lake, tent and RV sites and a lot of hiking trails. It is also closer to Dallas, so the drive will be much shorter than some of our recent Thanksgiving trips. We will have our Thanksgiving Potluck on Saturday evening. The Club provides a Cajun Turkey fried in a no oil fryer (healthier), you provide your favorite side or dessert.
Park Reservations should be made early, especially if you want an RV site. They also have Screen Shelters and Tent sites, but I would be proactive and reserve one soon. I have site 38 reserved.
To reach the park, which is 11 miles northwest of Atlanta, exit from U.S. Highway 59 onto FM 96, and go west nine miles to FM 1154, then north two miles to Park Road 42 entrance. (FM 1154 dead-ends at the park.)
